FAQ

What is The Campus Atlas?

We are a new community utility website that brings together all aspects of the web a college student might use. Everything is placed on a single web page to make your life more efficient and convenient.

Why use Campus Atlas?

Besides that everyone is doing it... we are a utility website that keeps you connected to your community at all times.

What does your site have to offer?

Google Web Search, Local Business Search, Wikipedia, Craigslist Search, Amazon Search, Madison Local Drink Specials, Professor Search, Hot Links, News Feeds... and more to come! If you don't see something you need, let us know. This is a site for you!

Who is behind Campus Atlas?

The Campus Atlas was developed by 4 UW-Madison students who have worked to bring more convenience to your web browsing by placing all essentials of the web in one place.

When I click on a link, nothing happens

Most external links on the Campus Atlas site open in a new window so as to not disturb your session at Campus Atlas. Our site will never display pop up advertisements on your screen, so you can turn off the pop up blocker for campus atlas, and use our site with trust!

Things look funny in my browser

If you are using Internet Explorer, we strongly suggest switching browsers to use Firefox. It is a far supreme browser (we would know), and the Campus Atlas site runs flawlessly on it. Download it from our site!

I hit the back button, and Sayonara!

Campus Atlas is using the latest technology to bring your internet experience to the max. We are using a new technology called AJAX which loads new elements in the page without a page refresh, saving you time. Just like in an Ajax application, the core of what’s going on is updated content without a single page refresh. That makes for speed and flexibility, but also means there is no back button browser functionality.

Previews Keep Popping Up

We use a cool application called Snap Shots, that give you previews of the website by displaying a snapshot of the site. They can also display wikipedia articles and amazon product descriptions. If you feel that these tabs are a distraction, you can easily turn them off by hitting the options tab on the snapshot preview, and selecting "Disable For THIS Site."

I need my links!

We are always open for suggestions on what will make your experience at The Campus Atlas better. If you would like a link to be added, use the contact form to let us know. We will be glad to add links, games, or anything that you have in mind!

Where is My School?

Do you have an interest in having Campus Atlas come to your school? We are looking for motivated students who know their way around their campus to help us expand to other campuses around the US. Currently we are accepting applications to schools with enrollment of over 20,000 students. If your school meets these requirements, you want to make some extra cash and work on a state of the art site, feel free to contact us and let us know how you can help!
